Are negative thoughts addicting?

Asked by: 192 views Uncategorized

Is it possible that there are some type of chemicals like adrenaline or cortisol being released during negative thought patterns that keep us recycling those thoughts?

This is a good question. While there is a bio-chemical relationship to consistent and obsessive negative thinking, a process which activates specific neural pathways over and over, the deeper issue is the possibility of a self-destructive or self-defeating personality. In other words, the internal critical script creates negative suggestions which breed unhappiness. It’s about anger being repressed and recycling. This anger may not be conscious and is related to a form of masochism.
